KARMA

A 6-episode drama featuring six people entangled in ill-fated relationships. Park Hae Soo witnesses an accident. Lee Ju Yeon (Shin Min Ah) is a doctor. Lee Hee Joon is a man deep in debt who plans to kill his father for the life insurance money. Jang Gil Ryong (Kim Sung Kyung) is a Chinese immigrant who works as a labor with Lee Hee Joon. Hae Soo collaborates with him in the plot to kill the father but ends up witnessing the accident himself, we call him Witness. He then tries to frame Han Sang Hun (Lee Kwang Soo), making it look like Sang Hun killed the father, and proceeds to blackmail him.

In the first two episodes, I didn’t really understand what was happening or how the characters were connected. It wasn’t until episodes 3 and 4 that things started to make sense. It turns out Sang Hun had an affair with Lee Yu Jeong (Gong Seung Yeon), who is trying to take advantage of him. Eventually, we learn that Ju Yeon (Shin Min Ah) has unresolved trauma from high school, which turns out to link some of the characters (Witness and Yu Jeong). Yoon Jeong Min (Kim Nam Gil), who is Ju Yeon’s boyfriend and a colleague at the hospital, eventually discovers the truth about her past.

The story is very intriguing, especially because it highlights the idea of karma — when you do something bad, the consequences will eventually come back to you.
