One Day Off

This is my kind of K-drama. It has only 8 eps, short duration but it steals my heart. It’s a 90’s setting slice of life drama, about a teacher who takes one day off to do some traveling after having stress or hard times about her works or personal life. She gets calm and healing when she does that. Starring Lee Na Young as the main character, there are a lot of big name as cameo in this drama.

One Day Off has 8 different story as Park Ha Kyung (Lee Na Young) travels to different places and meet different people. Each trip has its charm and healing moment for Ha Kyung.

I remember she debates with old people on her trip about politic and generations. It also touch my heart how she and the old man debate but it really hits me as viewers. But before they get separated after a heated conversation, that old man gives her some cracker/snack, I forgot, and it warms her heart. Just like that, we just need to express what is inside our mind, and then after that it’s fine. No hard feeling. Oooh… It’s so relatable.

My favorite is episode 7 where Ha Kyung follows a girl to find bakery which sells snail bread. She taste bread in many bakery but can’t find it. Until she finds a place and she knows it. That’s the bakery she’s been looking for. And there’s a story behind it. It’s for her late mother. It’s healing and warms Ha Kyung’s heart, how she finally be able to find that bread.

If you know Summer Strike, I think this is similar to that drama. The character Seolhyun plays are moving to a small city to find peace and happiness. But this drama has different story each episode. Love this kind of drama, that’s so me! I even like the poster. Not typical of popular drama, but love it. And I hope to see more drama like this. Slow, calm and healing.
