A nice romance drama set in an office background. Yu Eunho (Lee Jun Hyuk), a single dad, is hired as the secretary of a beautiful CEO, Kang Ji Yun (Han Ji Min). In her mind, she is only focused on work and making her company successful. Not many can last as her secretary, until Eunho arrives. And so, the romance begins.
Yu Eunho has a smart and cute daughter, Byeol. She likes to read at a bookstore (which also serves as a library), the same place where CEO Kang loves to read. That bookstore is her secret haven. Byeol and Kang become friends without realizing that Kang is her dad’s boss—and vice versa.
The romance between Eunho and Kang Ji Yun is sweet and mature, in my opinion. I love that the writer didn’t prolong their issues unnecessarily. Like real adults, they solve problems right away, especially because they share a past connection – Ji Yun’s father, a firefighter, died while saving Yu Eunho. It’s understandable that Ji Yun struggles to accept this, as she felt alone as a child when her father was always busy working as a firefighter, only to ultimately lose him to his duty.
Ji Yun’s life has been dark since her father’s passing. Her house lacks warmth until she visits Eunho’s home, where she finally feels a sense of comfort. Eunho is a clean freak-almost an OCD-level perfectionist. He is a great cook and highly detail-oriented at work, which is exactly what Ji Yun likes. He is always ready whenever Ji Yun needs something, from work-related matters to her daily coffee. Eunho is truly the perfect secretary for her.
There’s no typical breakup phase when misunderstandings arise or when issues make them want to distance themselves from each other, like in most dramas. But this time, it’s different. It’s really enjoyable to watch. Thanks to the writer-nim!
The second couple is cute too! Woo Jeong Hoon (Ki Do Hoon) and Jung Su Hyeon (Kim Yoon Hye) are actually two people who had one-sided feelings in the past, but they meet by chance and become a cute couple. Even though they officially declare their relationship in the final episode (if I’m not mistaken), they are always supportive of each other, like real couple.
One of the best romcoms I have ever watched! Very entertaining, warm, and lovable. Byeol is one of the key characters that kept me invested in this romance-she is so cute, smart, and, of course, a supportive daughter.
